Therapy
CATCH-point's Creative Attachment Therapy Model is based on attachment theory and research into the effectiveness of
creative arts and play therapies in healing trauma. Creative Attachment Therapy focuses on the parent-child relationship.
Creative Arts Therapies
Creative Arts Therapies formally describes the
professions of Music Therapy, Art Therapy and Dramatherapy. Play Therapy
is also informally included, as the important definition is that the therapy
is based on non-verbal imaginative communications, with the relationship
between the therapist and client as being key to the healing process.
Creative arts and play are linked to emotional and spiritual well-being
and have been shown through research to be effective therapeutic media
for healing. At CATCH-point we use Music, Art and Play therapies as part
of our therapeutic programmes. No skill in any art form is required for
parents or children taking part.
Creative
Arts and Play Therapies offer: • Secure and inspiring space to explore
unsafe feelings
• Opportunities for non-verbal communication through a creative media
• A chance to develop a trusting relationship
Music Therapy offers people the opportunity to share explorations of their
inner world through musical improvisations, usually on percussion.
Art
Therapy offers people a chance to explore and share their inner world
through drawing, painting or sculpting.
Play Therapy offers people the
chance to explore and share their inner world through creating stories
in an imaginative space, using a variety of equipment, materials and toys.
