CATCH-point
CATCH-point is a Registered Adoption Support Agency committed to developing integrated services for adoptive and foster families affected by trauma and attachment difficulties.
Aims
• To provide information and advice to adoptive parents
and
professionals about attachment and adoption related issues
• To alleviate the effects of an adopted child's early life trauma
and bereavements,
• To encourage healthy attachments and family bonding in
adoptive families,
• To create an integrated support team for each adoptive
family,
• To promote greater educational and social inclusion of adopted children.
Objectives
The principal means that CATCH-point deploys to meet these aims is to make conscious the unconscious processes at play in parenting a traumatized child, and for this to be reflected in policy and practice.
More specific activities (objectives) to bring about these changes are:
• Working in partnership with parents, professionals and other
adoption support services,
• Undertaking collaborative assessments with other staff
(including educational staff) involved with the family,
• Offering therapeutic programmers that focus on the
parent/child relationship,
• Continual professional development of all CATCH-point staff,
• Continual evaluation of services,
• Sharing our insights and experience within the adoption
learning community to inform the policy and practice of others in statutory and voluntary organisations.
