Catchpoint
Catchpoint is a Registered Adoption Support Agency committed to developing integrated services for adoptive and foster families affected by trauma and attachment difficulties.
Aims
• To provide information and advice to adoptive parents,
carers guardians
and professionals about attachment and adoption related issues,
• To alleviate the effects of an adopted child's early life
trauma and bereavements,
• To encourage healthy attachments and family bonding in
adoptive families,
• To create an integrated support team for each adoptive
family,
• To promote greater educational and social inclusion of adopted children.
Objectives
The principal means that Catchpoint deploys to meet these aims is to make conscious the unconscious processes at play in parenting a traumatized child, and for this to be reflected in policy and practice.
More specific activities (objectives) to bring about these changes are:
• Working in partnership with parents, professionals and other
adoption support services,
• Undertaking collaborative assessments with other staff
(including educational staff) involved with the family,
• Offering therapeutic programmes that focus on the
parent/child relationship,
• Continual professional development of all Catchpoint staff,
• Continual evaluation of services,
• Sharing our insights and experience within the adoption
learning community to inform the policy and practice of others in statutory and voluntary organisations.
