Catchpoint

Catchpoint is a Registered Adoption Support Agency committed to developing integrated services for adoptive and foster families affected by trauma and attachment difficulties.

About Us

Catchpoint was founded in 2001 by Joy Hasler who had been working as a music therapist with adoptive families since 1994. The team grew to included another music therapist, an art therapist and a play therapist see Staff. The focus of the therapeutic work was the attachment relationship of the parent and the child.

In 2005 Catchpoint became a limited company and was joined by Tom Pyne as strategic director and education consultant. Since then we have developed our services to offer integrated packages of support for families and school staff, working collaboratively with the other agencies involved in each case.

Catchpoint uses creative arts therapies with a trauma recovery model and an attachment focus. Parents are involved in therapy, either in session or at times via a video link. They receive support between sessions in consultations and in preparation for meetings. Reports are shared with everyone within the circle of confidentiality.

It is our aim to bring together a cohesive care team with a common understanding of trauma and secondary trauma - the effects of living or working with trauma. By developing and using a common language and behaviour management strategy the parents can be empowered to parent and the child will get consistent boundaries and an integrated approach to their care. This aids the process of healing and reduces the need for long-term therapeutic interventions.

Catchpoint are registered as an adoption support agency and highly commended in our last inspection report.

We are keen to hear from therapists interested in working with us and from parents and carers struggling with difficult children.
